Kentucky born, Ohio bred Thearthur Readie Theory Hazit Washington is one of the most profound lyricists out here today. With his music, the Christian hip hop rapper, songwriter, record producer melodically navigates through his life story reliving the pain, and capturing redemption through his testimony. With tracks laced with hypnotic beats accompanied by his charismatic flow, Theory Hazit is a good listen for any hardcore hip hop fan who needs some inspiration along the way.
After releasing his debut album Extra Credit produced by Tony Stone and ReFlex the Architect in 2007, Theory received comparisons to Kanye West and Common as both a producer and an MC. Since then, he has released several additional albums, including 2012's Thr3e and 2015's Fall of the Light Bearer. This album featured the thought provoking track “Unforgivable”
In “Unforgivable” Theory chronicles how he no longer wishes to live in the cycle of self-loathing and feelings of unforgiveness. He wants to be pointed back into the direction of grace and away from the daily process of crucifying himself for his sins. He eventually realizes that there is no limit to God’s grace during his long process of healing.
Atop the superb production with the perfect fusion of bass drums and violins, the song ends with a clip of a powerful conversation between life coach Iyanla Vanzant and a forgiveness-seeking man who has fathered 28 children with 16 different women. The purpose of featuring this clip was to prove that through repentance, this man could be forgiven by the grace of God. He also points out how we as Christians constantly speak of living under grace, but never know where we are headed, we just trust God to lead us. With songs this powerful, we can't help but wonder what he will come up with next.
